Most garden spaces and lawn look good with wrought iron gates. Note that the real wrought iron has not been commercially available since late 1960. A door can buy new or buy at a flea market. Recycling one door may require repaving, but can look good in a rustic state.

Make sure the door is in good structural conditions and competitive in price with new doors. Plan to remove any flaking paint and rust if a door is used near the sidewalk of a house, for example. Leave the door in a rustic state whether this will improve the look of a backyard garden.
